Qatar Airways, the national carrier of Qatar, will increase the number of weekly flights on the Doha - Zagreb route in December.
Qatar Airways currently operates on Doha - Zagreb - Doha route only once a week, every Friday, with A320 aircraft. Weekly operations are drastically reduced as a direct result of weak demand caused by the global pandemic.
Last summer, Qatar Airways operated on this route 14 times a week, and this summer the route to Dubrovnik was supposed to start with operations.
Qatar Airways suspended traffic to Zagreb at the time of the outbreak of global pandemic, the company returned on this route on July 1st with three weekly operations. Due to low demand, flights were suspended even during the summer season for a period of two weeks, in August and September. Since then, Qatar Airways stabilized operations on this route with just one flight a week.
Additional flight on Wednesdays in December
The company will briefly, in December, increase the number of weekly flights on this route. In addition to the flight on Friday, the flight is reintroduced on Wednesdays. Both flights will be operated by A320 aircraft with a capacity of 132 seats in this carrier's fleet; 12 in business and 120 in economy class. Both flights will operate with the same schedule, with afternoon departure from Zagreb Airport.
Doha 07:45 - 11:45 Zagreb 15:35 - 23:00 Doha
The temporary increase of Qatar Airways operations during the Christmas and New Year holidays is certainly a logical move, considering that Croatian citizens will want to travel to Croatia at this time of year.
The rotation on Fridays was done by one team of cabin and cockpit crew
The question remains what Qatar Airways will do with route to Zagreb in January and February, months when booking was low even under normal circumstances. The company planned to connect the Zagreb route with Vienna, but it did not happen.
One thing is for sure - if Asian markets will be reactivated in the summer flight schedule next year, Qatar Airways will certainly react by increasing weekly frequencies on this route, a minimum of four flights a week in that case should not be questionable.
