PSO: new domestic routes in Croatia

The government confirmed today that the new PSO program in the Republic of Croatia will be valid from October 25th until October 26th, 2024.

On domestic PSO routes in Croatia, airlines had 7626 flights with more than 450 000 seats offered per year. The new PSO period will record an increase of 13% in terms of flights, and 12% increase of capacity.

Croatia Airlines flew, until now, with all types of aircrafts on PSO routes, while Trade Air served the PSO routes with leased aircraft which has capacity of 19 seats.

The Ministry is regulating which routes will be under the PSO program, as well as weekly frequency, and the minimum capacity on those routes.

Following routes will be under PSO program from October 2020. until October 2024.:

Dubrovnik - Zagreb - Dubrovnik,

Split - Zagreb - Split,

Zagreb - Zadar - Pula - Zadar - Zagreb,

Zagreb - Brač - Zagreb,

Osijek - Dubrovnik - Osijek,

Osijek - Split - Osijek,

Osijek - Zagreb - Osijek,

Rijeka - Split - Dubrovnik - Split - Rijeka,

Osijek - Pula - Split - Pula - Osijek

Rijeka - Zadar - Rijeka,

Osijek - Zadar - Osijek.

Just one route is canceled, between Osijek and Rijeka, but Rijeka will have a new route under this PSO by connecting with Zadar directly. The same goes for Osijek, direct flight between Osijek and Zadar will be scheduled too. Since there is just one route that is canceled and just two new announced, we can expect that the weekly frequency will be increased on many routes. The number of weekly rotations and the capacity is not defined yet, it will be published once when the public tender is out, and we will write about that too. We can expect that those routes will be served by Croatia Airlines and Trade Air.
