Canadian leisure airline announced today suspension of its seasonal route between Toronto and Zagreb, which was established back in 2016.
Air Transat was originally planned to resume direct flights between Toronto and Zagreb from May this year, but due to pandemic situation the service resumption was postponed for July.
Direct flights were on sale 3 times per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) with wide-body aircraft A330-200, but the route is from today closed for sale and all flights are canceled for this year. Of course, the main reason is low demand due to COVID-19 situation.
Zagreb was linked with Toronto last summer season with two airlines, Air Canada Rouge operated direct flights 4 times per week, while Air Transat flew on this route 3 times per week, thats 7 direct flights per week between Toronto and Zagreb.
Air Canada Rouge suspended Zagreb service in April this year (as well as other seasonal destinations in Europe), and now Air Transat did the same.
By this, Zagreb will be without any wide-body passenger aircraft in this summer season (except Emirates which is planning to come back to Zagreb in September, but probably this route will be canceled as well).
